Overview:

Steel Tube is a core component used in the oil and gas industry to transport fluids, build piping systems and ancillary equipment. It refers to tubing made of carbon or alloy steel, which is widely used in oil and gas exploration, extraction, transportation and processing, such as oil and gas transmission lines, oil well casing and tubing, and equipment connectors.

Application Areas:

Oil and gas transportation pipeline system: for long-distance transportation of crude oil and natural gas on land and under the sea

Oil well operation and downhole tools: seamless steel pipes are used for drilling and cementing and well maintenance, high-strength steel pipes are used for drilling equipment with excellent torsion and compression resistance, such as casing for shale gas horizontal wells.

Refining and processing equipment: flanges, elbows and other fittings are made of seamless steel pipe, which is resistant to high temperature and high pressure and is suitable for refinery reactor connection.

Standards and production processes:

Production process: Seamless pipe, molded by hot rolling or extrusion, without welds, suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature environments (e.g., downhole tools, boiler systems), but at a higher cost.

Welded pipes, including ERW, SAW and other processes, have high production efficiency and low cost, and are mostly used for low-pressure transportation and structural support (e.g., water pipelines, building frames).

Manufacturing standards: API 5L: regulates the production of oil and gas transmission pipes, divided into PSL1 and PSL2, covering seamless, ERW, DSAW and other processes.

ASME B31.3: guides the design of pipe thickness, combining seamless/welded pipe weld coefficients to ensure safe pressure bearing.
